BuildingVeterinary office
This project provided the new headquarters for the European Union Food & Veterinary Inspectorate. It is the first head office of an EU agency to be located in Ireland.

The project is located on a Greenfield site, at Grange, near the town of Trim in County Meath and the main facilities provided in the complex are as follows:
  • Extensive offices on two floors, mainly in the form of cellular offices
  • Archives and storage in two basements
  • Conference facilities consisting of two conference rooms with sound proofed translation booths, with air conditioning
  • Full kitchen and canteen
  • Crèche
  • Extensive site works, including an on-site effluent treatment plant.
We provided full civil and structural design for the project and site supervision of the civil/structural work. The main technical issues in the project were as follows:
  • Roof structural over the conference and reception area to accommodate air conditioning and natural light through the roof
  • Extensive use of structural timber in the canteen and reception areas
  • Curved roof trusses in the canteen area to accommodate a curved timber ceiling
  • The on-site effluent treatment works.
The total floor area of the buildings is 11,000sqm.
